That is an impressive and well researched submission. Well done. I hope the content is taken on board, but sadly, ideology usually trumps fact and logic.

My submission was rather more succinct - I said the legislation was totalitarian and I would never ever vote for any political party that supported it.

thanks bryan, i just updated it a lot because i left out some important points. But i'm so tired that i think i didn't make it succinct enough, i rambled and repeated.... i wasn't sparse. I would love to read your submission!

My submission:

"Misinformation and disinformation pose a threat to the safety and wellbeing of Australians, as well as to our democracy, society and economy."

The premise of the Bill is a nonsense. In the last 3 years the biggest disseminator of "misinformation and disinformation" has been the State and instruments of the State. The definitions of misinformation and disinformation in the Bill are so ludicrously vague, that it appears the sole purpose of the Bill is for the powerful to silence views and opinions they don't like.

I certainly will NOT be voting for any political party that endorses this Bill

I occasionally cast my mind back to how bad things were from the beginning of the Covid Era. They had Australians dobbing each other in, they trampled on our constitutional and legal rights and freedoms. They brutalized legal protesters and intimidated citizens in their own homes. They coerced and deprived the people of their liberties.

They had us under surveillance and collaborated with corporations to censor us.

Lest we forget.

yes, totally. and all for that virus that was barely as bad as a serious flu and very treatable

Not to mention that early treatments and alternative effective medications, prophylactics were denied to patients , citizens and people were left to die!

All to create a pandemic to impose fascist totalitarianism in guise of protecting the public.

That is one brilliant submission. It's a pity that Rupert has already ordered that the bill be passed. Likewise, Rupert has ordered that the AEC pass the Referendum on the Voice, even though blind Freddie can see most Australians say No. Uncle Rupert must be obeyed.

I myself have adopted a philosophical attitude. If three thousand years of comprehension of political movement are accurate, the arrogance of enforcing what are plainly lies will so get up the nose of many citizens that the 40% of outrage required to sustain civil war and the eventualy summary justice inflicted on the totalitarians, will be hastened significantly and we will be treated to the grisly and gruesome deaths of guilty politicians, bureaucrats, journalists, and their enforcers, in full colour on national TV.

See? It ain't all bad.

As an ancient historian, I now anticipate being around to watch the show. To ensure a scoop, I am now writing my historical report, with spaces provided for identities and manner of death and size of respective audience. I have already calculated viewer ratings for each execution. Ahhh, posivity.

Hahaha, I like you! I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime, but here we are. I am happy there are people like you around to record the descent to chaos., and turn it into a game show! Pluck a duck has transformed into 'shoot a tyrant'. (For AU readers)

it truly is a descent into massive weirdness

The slow climb is probably too humane for the epitomie of evil these elites perpetrate, perhaps you could suggest some suitable historical punishments. Hung, drawn and quartering, Iron Maiden, Judas Cradle perhaps 🤔

Thank you for pushing this issue.

I found an LLM interface someone set up. It had radio buttons to add nuance, and built a submission in seconds. A little tweaking and it was ready to upload.

Whoever built it did a real service for those who are too time poor or challenged in crafting the words just right.

May your collective efforts bear fruit and see this egregious overreach defeated.

Peace.
